A joint research team led by Professor Takashige Omatsu, Chiba University and Professor Natalia M. Litchinitser, Duke University has demonstrated the nano-focusing of optical vortex by employing a multilayered hyperbolic metamaterial formed of a Cr Fresnel lens and ten-bilayer Ag∕Ti3O5 stack. The team also revealed that this device can be potentially extended to generate optical quasiparticles at a nano-scale.
The results of this research were published in the international journal ‘Nanophotonics’ on August 19, 2025.
